Internships

The Center for Brazilian Studies facilitates and funds student internships in Brazil. In 2019, we are offering three fully funded internships with existing partners working in the areas of sustainability, environment, and health.

If you are a student interested in interning in any field in Brazil, we are happy to talk with you to find a placement.

Please see our funding opportunities page for more information.

Study Abroad Programs

Summer 2020 Study Abroad in Salvador & Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Inequality & Activism in Brazil
GENS 450 (3 units)

Learning will take place both inside and outside the classroom as we examine different forms of inequality in Brazil and learn various theoretical approaches to understanding social and economic disparity. We will meet with different activists at grassroots NGOs and explore what might be done to alleviate poverty and environmental degradation, as well as other forms of social injustice.

Students will visit both the cities of Rio de Janeiro and Salvador da Bahia, as well as in rural towns along the Cacao Coast, where students will have the chance to tour museums and historic sites, visit beaches, and try regional cuisine.
