CFP: Brazil-Sustainability Initiative Seed Funding
The Behner Stiefel Center for Brazilian Studies is pleased to announce the Brazil-Sustainability Seed Funding competition. Funding is available for SDSU faculty seeking to develop or advance research projects in Brazil related to sustainability, climate change, and environmental justice. Awards are available for up to $7,500.
The funding is intended to support preliminary research to improve competitiveness for external funding and/or complete publications. Faculty can propose to conduct field research or bring a Brazil-based research collaborator to the SDSU campus for a sustained period of collaboration. Funds may also be used for research assistance.
Evaluation criteria for Brazil-Sustainability Initiative Seed Funding is as follows:
- Significance of the project in advancing research on Brazil and sustainability
- Qualifications of the applicant in the area of investigation
- Probability of leading to refereed publications, exhibitions, or performances
- Likelihood of obtaining extramural funding
- Alignment of project with Center for Brazilian Studies mission and objectives
- All other factors being equal, priority will be given to those using their disciplinary
expertise to work in Brazil for the first time.

Submissions
All Unit 3 faculty in all San Diego State University units, regardless of rank, are
strongly encouraged to apply: Lecturers, Assistant Professors, Associate Professors,
and Full Professors.
